The inner courtroom is the architecture of the false self. The defense attorney, the prosecutor, the judge, all of them are voices that have been installed before you had the words to question them. The verdict is always the same. You are guilty. You do not deserve love. You carry that conviction on your permanent record, pretending it is not there, and therefore believing it is true.
What lingers with me is the distinction between deserving and receiving. Deserving is a transaction. It is earned. It is conditional. Receiving is an opening. It does not require proof. It does not require a defense. Love comes whether you deserve it or not. The giver does not review the court records. The giver does not even enter the courtroom.
