Really ... what is this "wait and see" nonsense? We had four years of Trump at his most unprepared and incompetent, with guardrails in the form of people and institutions that would push back, all of which have disappeared. And boy are they prepared this time! Matt Gaetz as Attorney General? Recess appointments? Project 2025? Which part of Trump's campaign did you miss, Charles? It doesn't take information to be filtered through the media to hear him with our own ears, and see him with our own eyes. This is not propaganda: you heard him, with JD Vance's "explanations" of what he really means, and you think we're too stupid to know what lies ahead of us? Wait for what? We have not only his first term to judge him by, but are blessed with the imagination to understand the ramifications of this choice by the voters. Wait for what? For Trump and his sycophants to have a change of heart? To not follow through on their worst instincts? You think Trump cares two hoots for "free speech" when he's willing to go after "enemies from within" -- anyone who opposes him? So sad Charles. I've always liked your essays, but this pre-apology for the "American carnage" ahead of us is mind-boggling.
Charles, your mindset and words opened my world immensely. You helped me follow my intuition and it’s led me into many new facets of life. I am grateful.

I see totally how your work aligns with this opening of possibility. I could be wrong but I think you genuinely feel that this openness is part of a new story. And it may be, but not for the reasons you may think.
In my opinion, your perspective is ungrounded. It’s detached from essential social and historical roots. I’ve heard you speak of collective trauma yet your seemingly blocked from seeing how Trump epitomizes the capitalist, colonial and patriarchal trauma that this country rests on and builds from.
Trumps words and actions are violent. His choices embody power without wisdom. Trauma is a rupture in dignity, safety, and belonging and Trumps path of manifestation exemplifies each.
There is no healing without a full repentance for the repression of women’s wisdom and the matriarchy. Yet Trump lives and governs in a way that hurts womens sovereignty. The fact that you dont write on this much makes me curious as to the power you may subconsciously have in your own life.
Without a womens led shift in family systems that honor wellbeing, nurturing and expression; our country will not find its way out of capitalism. Without an escape from capitalism we will not know fully how the wisdom and strength in our indigenous and black sister and brothers.
Neoliberalism denys the heart of this country and shatters its collective power. People are right to criticize it. However, Trumps criticism is in the opposite direction. He believes we need more attention to the patriarchal system that is Christianity, not less. He wants people to think like him, agree with him and bow to him. This in no way provides any space or framework for the rise of the people except as having someone to oppose.
