Thank you. A very real phenomenon, political bypassing.

As a young woman at university, studying Environmental Policy Analysis and Planning, I became a radical activist, fluctuating between Sierra Club and EarthFirst degrees of intensity.

A long story, but through a reconciliation with my biological father, I came to realize how much of my anger toward the human race and government institutions was a front for personal grief and pain. While I continued with some aspects of environmental protection work, more joy and love for humanity, including "those evil developers," sprang forth and the anger did not dominate.

So, yes, political bypassing is incredibly real and a main reason for us as individuals to look at our own personal pain and power issues before projecting outward and blaming "them."

More intellectual by passing by Charles in his full throated support of RFKjr and tacit support of Trump.

Given the candidates and the state of the world in this specific period of time, what words of wisdom would you offer as to what he should do in this election? Note vote? Recommend not voting to others? Not communicate politically at all? Not get politically active in any campaign? Where ya coming from in this comment? Thx.

Charles has written he is pulling out of the political process in a previous message. Get involved, listen deeply to what is being said and promised on all sides and then VOTE with all your heart. Get involved at the local level and think globally. All our institutions are in grave condition. I'm voting for the Harris/Walz ticket. I've listened to Trump and am convinced he is not well and will try to do exactly what he says he will do. If that doesn't move us to action then reading Project 2025 and Agenda 47 might. Believe them when they make their promise to America. God bless America.

Thanks, Craig. Yes. I read his last piece about pulling away from politics. Do you believe that he has not done what you've suggested above, i.e., "Get involved, listen deeply to what is being said and promised on all sides and then VOTE with all your heart."?

It's really difficult when it comes down to just two viable candidates. Both sides see things very differently and both sides believe they're right. It's the shadowy, invisible currents that make this so difficult to resolve. I get why you are voting as you are and I also get why others support the coalition that has formed around Trump. It's really complex and very charged.

Given what Trump and the rebublicans are saying and promising do you really believe they will give RFKjr. the latitude he says they will? Are you engaged with the language of violence and retribution that came with Jan 6th and do you believe they will do the same regardless of who wins.? Trump has his corporate (deep state) supporters and vows to stifle public discourse as well.

Like I mentioned above, it's very complex. There's a tendency to distill situations down into easily manageable, black and white scenarios.

Do I believe RFK, Jr will be given the latitude promised? I don't know. I think Kennedy is wicked smart and is being strategic in his open speech, repeating over and over, his discussions with Trump and the promises made, making it wide open and transparent for a reason. I feel the same way about Tusli Gabbard. Kennedy's no dummy, both Kennedy and Gabbard are fiercely independent, and neither of them will ultimately tolerate broken promises that force them to live a life in violation of their integrity. They've both proven this many times. I have to take the situation at face value. It's been quite authentically communicated. In terms of what devil one sleeps with in order to make those changes, well, politics is a dirty game of pragmatism.

If the promises are broken, the whole coalition of people surrounding him, who I highly respect, will figure something else out but only IF the 1st Amendment is not effectively abolished. That is a huge concern. This "in-effect", if not outright free-speech abolishment, in my observation, has already been proven to be a goal on the Left verified by years of behavior and actual statements. The prospect of a Harris-Walz-Cheney-Obama-Clinton administration is terrifying to me.

I was very appalled on January 6th. I have a more balanced, but not favorable view of it, than I did back then. My thoughts are that the country is a tinder box of tremendous division, ready to be set ablaze from both "sides". However, the Left generally seems more unstable and unhinged.

I am concerned about the emotional welfare and mental stability of the "exhausted Left" which is why I never wanted Trump to run. It's too much for them, and therefore all of us to bear and I mean that empathetically, even if I don't see things the same way as they collectively appear to. It's too much. Still, now that he is the choice, I either don't vote (which is what I deliberately chose in 2020), or I choose to vote for the team assembled via a vote for Trump. Harris is not an option for me.

I'm hoping that the people around Trump can calm things down and that the media, on both sides, will be more responsible. That said, of the two potential administrations, the people coalescing around Trump and not just those who might hold office, but those active on Twitter, etc. and across the country, are by far "my people", from the many brave scientists, physicians, whistleblowers, etc. who have spoken out about all the Covid lies, to those who take a stance against the abusive parts of the Transgender agenda, protection of Women's sports, freedom of speech, and other issues, I am much more comfortable with these brave people of integrity than those who are ignoring what happened during the pandemic and pushing other unreasonable stances, especially war.

That said, I don't believe that the two-party system problem and our current grossly corrupted government is addressed solely by elections. The situation in our country and across the globe is dire. This is a Hail Mary pass at this point. I'm just trying to keep a semblance of our constitution and bill of rights alive long enough for us to survive another day to figure it out. I also know that you feel the same, just from a different perspective. That's all I've got.

I've come back here to comment after the election. In the post above I wrote,

"My thoughts are that the country is a tinder box of tremendous division, ready to be set ablaze from both "sides". However, the Left generally seems more unstable and unhinged."

"I am concerned about the emotional welfare and mental stability of the "exhausted Left" which is why I never wanted Trump to run. Wow. The unhinged is even worse than I thought it would be. This is quite distressing. We have a serious mental health crisis in this country (and across all western nations). The media have been criminal in their manipulation here. I would say they are guilty of treasonous behavior. This is not good.

Many more people do political bypassing than spiritual bypassing πŸ˜„.

Have you read RenΓ© Girard? It’s a lot of material to get across but immensely worthwhile - both personally and theoretically. His model explains so much at both micro and macro levels. It reaches back to the origins of culture and forward to Armageddon. Do read him!!

He posits a β€˜political atheism’, as distinct from political bypassing. Actually he says about his politics : β€œI’m anti crowd - after all, the crowd is always all on the left, or all on the right”

I would love to hear your take on Girard. It seems simple on the surface but takes a bit of in depth reading before you get it.
