Don't start me on the Israel thing - I agree and can't stand that or understand it - but we just don't know - maybe someone who 'gets them' has to be in there too. When it is all resistance it just meets resistance and goes nowhere which is why politics is the same old same old. I think it's important right now for more of us to say 'I don't know' - the world is FULL of know-alls (me included!)
They all lie -- some more seriously than others. Biden's tenure was a lie. News media lies. Kamala lies. Do not believe the 20,000 lies from Trump. It's nothing but a media stunt.
It is an important point. I am talking about not having a double standard. Trump should be measured by the same criteria that we judge others by. Your claim of "whataboutism" is what is distracting from the issue.
Trump has literally said he will end democracy. Nobody else has. I am applying the same standards to all. Just because the others are also bad, doesn't mean he isn't worse by nearly all important measures.
That is nonsense, but you will believe what you want to believe. You may have read words, but have misconstrued their meaning.Totalitarianism is on our doorstep and Trump is not the source.
I did see it. I believe you misinterpreted the remark by ignoring context. These are people who do not like to vote. Just like the NYT to deliberately create a misleading story about Trump. That is actually one of the problems, MSM ignoring context to create a false narrative.
That is exactly why he’s saying it: he knows they don’t like to vote, so he’s saying ‘just this once, then you won’t have to again, because we’re going to end democracy’. It’s pretty clear. Of course he might be lying, he’s always lying, but it’s that or they plan to end democracy. I don’t see a third option unless you’re going to claim the whole thing is made up.
If you think ending democracy might be good, then just say so, because that’s at least a potential outcome for voting for DT. And yes, I know, the Dems are also really bad. But, like I said, they haven’t claimed they want to end democracy.
Mary, I'm reading this thread every day, always looking for information I may have missed. I did research Trump's comment, and I'm at a loss to see it another way, even in context. Many people laud him for speaking his mind. Many people excuse his words as "bull in the china shop" sort of thing. I'm not trying to demonize him at all, but cannot see another explanation? Heartfelt question here.
Trump is the biggest liar in recorded history. You're making a false equivalence. A psychological flattening that disables discernment.
"Biden's tenure was a lie": how so? Do you mean the time they took to oust him? That's just how leadership dynamic work. He was definitely old and clearly suffering cognitive issues at end (though less so than Trump). He wasn't making bad decisions.

I think we do know that Trump is a liar though. To deny that is bordering on pathology. So RFK is putting his name behind those lies.

This is called 'whataboutery', distracting from the issue.

What's your evidence for this belief?
Project 2025 has been described by good people on both sides of the aisle as the worst ever attack on US democracy and civil rights.
How much do you know about it? And are you willing to learn? https://youtu.be/tjjWYWcBPyw?si=hNqmZcCQeDgO1MLf
I presume you haven't seen this news story then? https://www.nytimes.com/2024/07/27/us/politics/trump-votes-christians.html

Just in case, here it is again from the WSJ, owned by right-wing billionaire Rupert Murdoch: https://www.wsj.com/video/trump-tells-christians-you-wont-have-to-vote-anymore-if-hes-elected/37612731-ACC8-4DD1-BDD0-330DF75020AE

Very helpful that you defined this type of comment, no matter your perspective, it detracts from the discussion (no matter the subject).
I TOTALLY AGREE re: "I don't know." The three most underutilized words in the English language at this point.
